Celebrating a century of Irish peace-building, for the Department of Foreign Affairs’ St Patrick’s Day video 2023 we enlisted the unmistakable tones of singer Tolü Makay.
Performing an acapella rendition of the ballad Danny Boy, Tolü’s voice rings out over sweeping shots of lush Irish landscapes and archive footage of landmark milestones in the nation’s 100 years of upholding peace, diplomacy and human rights.
Context
From Ireland’s place in the League of Nations, the United Nations and the European Union, to international aid efforts, the historic Good Friday Agreement and our most recent chapter welcoming Ukrainian refugees, we know that peace is not just the destination, but the path we walk.
