The A to U of Ireland

Department of Foreign Affairs

The A to U of Ireland is an exhibition promoting Ireland and the Irish language for the Department of Foreign Affairs’ overseas missions and embassies. By using versatile modular printable cubes, we created an exhibition that was adaptable to the differing spatial constraints of Irish embassies worldwide.

Along with the main goal of showcasing Irish culture, we also focused on making this project sustainable and adaptable. The exhibition features lightweight, re-arrangeable display cubes made from recycled cardboard. Each of the cubes highlight words that offer a glimpse into our culture, climate, history, and heritage.

As well as producing a version of the exhibition in Ireland, we also created printable templates and a toolkit to ensure any Irish Embassy could effortlessly and sustainably print and stage the boxes for public display.

The playful and intricate illustrations are filled with influences from Celtic art motifs, echoing the rich tapestry of early Irish literature. The exhibition was also delivered in a digital format for use on screens and through social media platforms by the Department.
